HISTORICAL PLACES
Ardahan CastleIt is located at the center of the city and on the left side of Kura River. Ardahan Castle was built by Seljukians and used in Ottoman Period. Ardahan Castle can be considered as an example of Rumeli Castle.
Kalecik Castle
It is estimated to have been built by Urartians in 8. .
Altaş CastleIt is located on the east side of Altaş village. It was probably built during Turkish period on the ruins of pre-Turkish period.
Demon CastleDemon Castle estimated to have been built in Urartians period, is an important tourism center on the 1km east of Çıldır on stiff land and summit.
Kazan CastleIt is located on 12-13 km northeast of Ardahan. This castle is estimated to have been built by . Turkish people who arrived from Kazan in Turkistan during A.C 8-9.
Sevimli CastleThe castle which is around the Sevimli Village which is 20 km southeast of Hanak has the characteristics of Urartian Castles.
Kurtkale Castle
It is on 1km south of Kurtkale sub-district which is 36 km northeast of Çıldır center and on the Georgia boundary.
Kinzi CastleKinzi castle estimated to have been built before Christ is located on the north of Bağdeşen village which is on 30 km west of Ardahan.
Cak CastleIt was built around Cak water which creates the Turkey - Georgia boundary around the boundary police station in Turkgözü connected to Posof.
Savaşır CastleSavaşır Castle in the Posof district was established on a stiff peak surrounded by a vally on three side in a tongue shape on southeast of Savaşır (Cancak) village. The castle of which exact establishment date is not known is understood to be formed with only a tower built in Middle Era.
Kol CastleIt is on a high peak on the east of Kol Village which is 6 km west of Posof. The castle of which establishment date is not know is estimated to have been built in A.C.
Mere CastleIt is located on 5 km southeast of Posot on the Posof road. Its name of which exact establishment date is not known is faced in different historical sources. There is a church ruins on southwest side of the castle.
Kırnav CastleIt is located on 5 km west of Hanak district and on Ardahan - Hanak highway. The castle on a low peak has really high walls.
Karakale Castle around Çıldır
It is located on 300 mt. east of Karakale Village which is 8 km east of Çıldır center and on a stiff rocks on the right side of the Çıngıl river.
Kışla Hanak (Avcılar Castle)It is located on a place named as Kalecik Mevkii on 2 km north side of Kışla Hanak Avcılar Village which is 3 km away from Hanak district.
Karakale Castle around HanakIt is located on the east side of Karakale Village on 1 km east of Cin Mountain which is 19 km northwest of the Hanak center. Establishment date of this castle of which name is on the historical resources is not known.
Dedeşen Village Castle Ruins
Castle ruins are located on a low peak on north of Dedeşen Village in Göle.
